1st Order of Business:
Frequency of Event
A. Should we split the reunion into more than one event, or keep it as combined?
Unanimous vote to keep as one event.
B. Should we have an event every two or every three years?
Vote was 2-to-1 to have frequency every 2 years.
2nd Order of Business:
Financials
Should we use reunion funds to pay for travel of reunion volunteers to suggested locations to help with planning? .... This was met with no commitment and additional discussion which resulted in general agreement that ultimate designated leader should be close to decided location.
Jeff and Rhea Friederichs reported on reunion account funds and general usage to date. Fund of $4,000+. Expenses of marketing, web site, meetings, supplies, food and dry goods results in a balance of $500+ as of 6/17/11.
2011 reunion totals were announced of $695 silent auction, $1,820 registration, $250 T-shirts, $870 raffle. Payments were made on 6/19/11 to conclude 2011 reunion business.
Funds will be deposited into Springer Family Reunion account.
3rd Order of Business
Time of the year for the reunion
General agreement: Third week of June to fourth week of July. Reunion committee will select the date after discussion.
4th Order of Business
Where will the next reunion be
Suggestions: Oklahoma, Missouri, Wyoming, Minnesota, South Dakota, Illinois
Voting took place to narrow choices to the top 2 locations. These ended up as Missouri = 23, Wyoming = 25, South Dakota = 25. Tie breaker to eliminate MO or SD. MO = 25, SD = 26. Final vote between SD & WY ended as SD = 28, WY = 29. 2013 Reunion will be in Wyoming. New reunion committee will select the event site. Several locations were discussed including South Pass, Big Horn Mtns., Devil's Tower and Cody..
5th Order of Business
Who is in charge of the 2013 reunion with Wyoming as the chosen location?
Agreement was made during location voting that leader of 2013 reunion should be local to the decided location. Jon W. Springer volunteered, Rhea and Jeff agreed to help. An ask was made for committee member volunteers, and after the meeting the following individuals expressed interest in being committee members: Brad Batten, Lisa Batten and Jeanne Collier. Please contact us if interested in being a part of the decisions and planning for 2013.
At the next reunion, ask each family to bring a family board/tree.
Location of the reunion will equally depend on camping, lodging airlines and celebrations in the area. Note: get your genealogy updates to Dean Springer. Send photos for posting to web site to rhea@springerfamilyreunion.com. There was a motion and second to adjourn, and unanimous vote to end.
